Sanjay-Dutt

After completing his jail term, Sanjay Dutt was finally set free last year. His name was embroiled in the criminal act for being involved in 1993 Bomb Blast case for which he was sentenced to jail for the term of three years in the year 2013. In 2016, he was set free, but 8 months before his actual jail term came to an end. Following this, a public interest litigation was filed a by Pune resident named Pradeep Bhalekar challenging the regular paroles and furloughs granted to Dutt when he was serving his sentence. The Bombay High Court then questioned Maharashtra Government as to why Sanjay Dutt was granted remission early? As an update on the same, the Maharashtra Government has given out its justification.

The Maharashtra stated in its justification that Sanjay Dutt was released early on account of his “good behaviour, discipline and participation in various institutional activities such as physical training, educational programmes and for performing the allotted work.”

Further, the government also said that if at all anything has gone amiss in Sanjay Dutt’s case than they are willing to send him back to the jail. Ashutosh Kumbhakoni stated, “If after considering the entire material it is found that Dutt was released earlier than what is required under the law he may be put back into the prison.”

Let’s wait for more updates on the same.
