On the remake, Harman said in a statement, “There is a certain mystic quality attached to The Great Indian Kitchen. The story stays with you well after the film. I wanted to make it for a pan-India audience with the perfect balance between entertainment and content-driven drama. I am super excited to collaborate with Sanya & Arati.”
Talking about The Great Indian Kitchen, it was written and directed by Jeo Baby. When it released on OTT, it received an overwhelming response. The movie focussed on how the women have been treated as slaves or taken for granted since generations. It beautifully captured the patriarchy through kitchen where we see injustice and suppression towards a newlywed woman in her husband’s house. The movie starred Nimisha Sajayan and Suraj Venjaramoodu as wife and husband.
