Sara Ali Khan will play a freedom fighter in the Prime Original movie Ae Watan Mere Watan. Ahead of India’s 74th Republic Day celebration, the makers unveiled the actress’s first look. The movie is a tribute to the brave heroes of India’s struggle for freedom.

The Ae Watan Mere Watan teaser shows Sara in a retro look from the pre-Independence era. She is seen in a sari pulling down the curtains as she sits down to assemble a radio-like device. The actress is next heard saying, “The British feel they have curbed the Quit India movement. Lekin azad awazein qaid nahi hoti. Ye-ha Hindustan ki awaz, Hindustan me Kahin se, Kahin pe Hindustan mein (Free voices cannot be held captive. This is Hindustan’s voice, from somewhere in the country).” Her address is soon interrupted by a banging on the door.
Ae Watan Mere Watan follows the courageous journey of a college girl in Bombay who goes on to become a freedom fighter. This fictional tale is set against the backdrop of the Quit India Movement in 1942. A Dharmatic Entertainment Production, it is being produced by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta. The movie is co-produced by Somen Mishra. Directed by Kannan Iyer Ae Watan Mere Watan will be released on Amazon Prime Video.
