Sara Ali Khan in Karan Johar’s movie Ae Watan Mere Watan, confirms Varun Dhawan

Sara Ali Khan will soon be seen marking her digital debut. The actress will be headlining Dharma Productions’ upcoming film titled Ae Watan Mere Watan. The film was announced by Varun Dhawan on social media today. Amazon Original Movie will go on floors this month.

Varun Dhawan revealed that Sara will play a valiant freedom fighter in a fictional tale set against the backdrop of the Quit India Movement.

In a special promo shared by Karan Johar, the Jug Jugg Jeeyo actor reveals Sara Ali Khan will be the lead actress of Amazon Original Movie, Ae Watan Mere Watan. The filmmaker sharing the video thanked Varun Dhawan in the cation and wrote, “Thanks for dishing that out @varundvn!!

In the promo video, Varun Dhawan is heard saying in a cheery voice that the ‘lovely, beautiful’ Sara Ali Khan and the ‘square root of Amrita Singh’ will be leading the film. He then switches the style to Sara’s famous poetry style, beginning with ‘Namaste Darshakon’. “Freedom fighter powerful like sun, Britishers ho Gaye stun, Khabar brought to you by Dhawan Number 1…”

The film is a thriller, inspired by true events and has been written by Darab Farooqui and Kannan Iyer. A Dharma Entertainment Production, the film is being produced by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta.  Somen Mishra is serving as the co-producer. The movie will be directed by Kannan Iyer and it will release on Prime Video. Sara’s look from the film is expected to be out soon.
