Saswata Chatterjee on Abhishek Bachchan playing Bob Biswas: He is a much bigger name than me

Vidya Balan starrer ‘Kahaani’ is one of the superhit thrillers. If Vidya was raved for her stellar performance, one also cannot forget Bob Biswas (played by Saswata Chatterjee), the deceptive LIC agent cum contract killer who politely greeted people with a ‘Nomoshkar’ and then killed them. Last year, Shah Rukh Khan made the grand announcement of a spin-off of the film with a revival of the complex character into a full-length feature film. The character of Bob Biswas will be played by Abhishek Bachchan and not Saswata Chatterjee.

Many were not happy that Abhishek Bachchan is reprising the iconic character instead of Saswata. In a recent interaction when we asked how he felt on not playing his own character, to which the actor said, “I feel very proud that a small character that is not even of ten minutes made such a mark that a full-fledged Hindi movie is being made on that character. So, I am really proud of myself.”

He further said, “And I feel that when we make a whole film on a character that too in Hindi, we should not take any risk. Abhishek Bachchan is a much bigger name than Saswata Chatterjee in Bollywood. I am very new to the Hindi film industry and ‘Dil Bechara’ is my third film.”

On the work front, Saswata Chatterjee has completed the shooting of Rajkumar Santoshi film where he has played an important role. It is a romantic comedy.
