Shaan ‘heartbroken’ by the demise of his mother: A kind soul, great human being

Bollywood playback singer Shaan’s mother Sonali Mukherjee left for heavenly abode on Thursday (January 20). The sad news was shared on Twitter by Shaan’s singer friend Kailash Kher. The Rang Le singer has now released a statement where he has mourned the demise of his mom. The entire family is heartbroken by her death.

The statement read: “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the demise of our mother Ms Sonali Mukherjee. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. A kind soul, great human being and a loving mother. It is a huge loss for us all.”

It further read: “While we try and say our last goodbyes, we would like you to keep Covid restrictions in mind and humbly request you to keep her in prayers.”

Shaan’s colleagues and friends, Neha Bhasin, Sophie Choudry and others offered condolences to the family. Neha wrote, “Om shanti. Praying for her soul and sending you all my love” while Sophie wrote, “deepest condolences to you all. May aunty’s soul Rest in peace❤️”. Tiger Shroff also condoled as he wrote, “condolences to the family sir she is happy and healthy where she is”.

Shaan’s mother was also a singer and he was very close to her. Earlier in an interview with Hindustan Times, he said that his mom is the sole reason he could take his chances, not take up a daily job, and pursue a career as a singer. “She raised my sister, Sagarika, and me, single-handedly, after my father passed away in 1986. I was just 14 then. She used to be a chorus singer for film songs from 1970 to 2000,” said Shaan.
