There’s no doubt that Shabana Azmi is one of the best actresses we have in Bollywood. She has been in the industry for the past 43 years, and nowadays, if she does a film, she still steals the show with her brilliant performance.
Well, this year at Jagran Film Festival, Shabana Azmi will be honoured with ‘Icon of Indian Cinema’. JFF will take place in Mumbai and at the closing ceremony of the eight edition of the festival, the actress will be honoured. The ceremony will take place on September 24, 2017.
The festival’s strategic consultant, Manoj Srivastava, said, “It’s a matter of pride for the festival that such a great actor who hasn’t perhaps got her due as yet, is being honoured with the ‘Icons of Indian Cinema Award’.”
Shabana Azmi is one of the those rare actresses of Bollywood who have balanced wonderfully between parallel and commercial cinema. She has impressed us with her performance in movies like ‘Ankur’, ‘Swami’, ‘Arth’, ‘Bhavna’, ‘Khandar’, ‘Paar’, ‘Godmother’, and many more. She was last seen on the big screen in ‘Neerja’ in which she played the role of Neerja Banot’s mother, Rama Bhanot. For her performance in the film, she won many accolades. We surely hope to see her in more Bollywood films.
