Shabana Azmi feels Kangana Ranaut makes ‘outrageous statements’ for THIS reason

Following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Kangana Ranaut has taken the centre stage with her nepotism, drug-mafia, insider vs outsider and movie-mafia debates. Most of the time, the actress has been grabbing the headlines for all wrong reasons.

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi recently opened up about Kangana’s comments on the film industry. Shabana feels that Kangana makes such ‘outrageous statements’ just to stay in news.

Kangana has time and again said that nepotism doesn’t let new talent flourish in the film industry. Recently she even claimed that 99 per cent of Bollywood’s A-listers consume the banned substance. From ‘suicide gang’ to ‘movie mafia’, Kangana has levelled several allegations on the film industry. In fact, she had even claimed that it was she who taught feminism and nationalism through her films.

Commenting on Kangana’s various remarks, Shabana told Mumbai Mirror, “Kangana has started believing in her own myth. She says she taught feminism to the film industry, she taught it nationalism. I’m glad she spelt that out because nobody else had noticed! I think she fears the day when she will no longer be in the headlines and so has to keep making outrageous statements to stay in the news. Poor girl, why doesn’t she just do what she is best at, which is acting.”

Also speaking about how it’s unfair to paint the entire industry with the same brush, Shabana said, “There are miscreant elements in all professions. Like Shyam Benegal says, why expect all the people in the film industry to be paragons of virtue? There are many socially committed outspoken people too, does the entire industry gets bathed in a halo because of them?”
