Without a doubt, 2023 has been the year of Shah Rukh Khan. The actor started the year with a bang in Pathaan, took it to higher levels with Jawan and will close the year on a high with Dunki. However, there had been recent reports that owing to the huge success of Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan might push the release of Dunki to the next year. But as it turns out, the actor is right on schedule.
Shah Rukh Khan confirms Dunki is NOT postponed
On Friday, Shah Rukh hosted a Jawan success press conference for the media and his fans. During the event, the actor recalled the amazing 2023 he has had till now. The next film on his filmography this year is the Rajkumar Hirani directed Dunki. It was announced to have a Christmas 2023 release date but recent reports said that it might be pushed to the next year. But with his answer, SRK quashed the rumours, confirming he intends to keep his Christmas promise.
He said, “God’s been very kind, we’ve had Pathaan. God has been even kinder with Jawan. I always tell ki 26 January se humne shuruat ki, Republic Day, it’s a good auspicious day. Janmashtami, Krishna ji ke janamdin pe humne ye film release ki. Abhi naya saal aane wala hai, Christmas hai, usme hum Dunki lekar aayenge. Aur national integration rakhta hun, waise bhi jab meri film release hoti hai us din Eid to hoti hi hai. (We began on an auspicious day, Republic Day. Then on Lord Krishna’s birthday, Janmashtami, we had Jawan. Now, on Christmas and New Year, we will bring Dunki. And as I always keep national integration in mind, it’s always Eid when my films release).”
SRK on his new-found approach
The actor went on to thank God and fans for their love and blessings. He also revealed the new-found approach he has developed towards his work. He said, “I am working harder than I’ve worked in the last 29 years. And Inshallah, I’ll keep working hard because ab mujhe sabse zyada khushi milti hai jab log film ko dekhkar khush hote hain. (I’ll keep working harder because I feel happiest when people feel happy watching my film).”
He added, “I have become more of a gentler and selfless actor than I was. Pehle main thoda selfish tha ki main apna role acha karun, main acha role karun. (I used to be a little selfish before, thinking I should only focus on my role being done well, and my role should be good). But now I just want to make people happy. And God has been too kind to me, my family. I am just very grateful for whatever is happening. Just pray for me I get every film right because I will try and work harder and make sure it happens.”
Well, SRK mania is working crazy this year. First, the actor gave Pathaan which became the first Hindi film to cross Rs 500 crores at the box office. Then came Jawan, which shattered even Pathaan’s records at the box office. Only time will tell the craziness that will ensue when SRK returns to close the year with his Christmas gift, Dunki.
