Shah Rukh Khan reveals how wife Gauri Khan ended up designing their home Mannat

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are one of the most powerful couples in the Hindi film industry. The two have been together from way before the actor became the biggest superstar of the country. Their love story is an inspiration to many and the way they support each other professionally is just too adorable.

Recently, Shah Rukh Khan launched wife Gauri Khan’s coffee table book, My Life in Design, in the city. And while there, the doting husband was all praise and gushy over his wife. He opened up on several incidents from their lives, proving that they are indeed made for each other.

How Gauri Khan ended up designing Mannat

Gauri is a renowned and successful interior designer today. And Shah Rukh revealed that their home Mannat was indeed her first project. The actor opened up on how they bought Mannat when they didn’t have much money to furnish it. Budgetary constraints made them opt for Gauri only to design the house.

The actor shared, “We had not too much money, as soon as we mustered up some money, we said we have to buy a bungalow. We managed to buy, which was one thing but then we had to rebuilt it because it was kind of broken. And then we didn’t have money to furnish it.”

Shah Rukh added, “And of course, we called upon on one designer but the lunch that he served us telling us how we should design the house, was more than the salary I used to earn in a month. We were like, this guy will charge us a lot so how do we do this house now? Then the only person to turn to was, I said listen Gauri, why don’t you become the designer of the house. So actually, Mannat started like that. So whatever money we earned over the years, we kept on buying small things for the house.

The proud husband added, “She started with that whole aspect and now has gone on to design any and everything that we buy in the house.”

Shah Rukh and Gauri’s story

Shah Rukh and Gauri were college sweethearts and have been together ever since. The couple got married in 1991 and have 3 kids- son Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan, and daughter Suhana Khan. Even their kids are now ready to start with their careers in showbiz. While Suhana will make her acting debut with The Archies, Aryan will be reportedly making his directorial debut with a web series. As for SRK, he gave the humongous success of Pathaan this year. Next up, he has Jawan, Dunki and a special appearance in Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3.
