Shah Rukh Khan shares exciting deets on Dunki, quips ‘In English, my film would be called Donkey’

The Badshah of Bollywood, actor Shah Rukh Khan is all set to rule the year 2023 as he is gearing up to have not one but three releases. Shah Ruk Khan will be smashing the box office with Pathaan, Dunki and Jawan, and interestingly, all three are touted to be highly anticipated movies. As we are yet to see them onscreen, recently, during an interview in Saudi Arabia where SRK attended the Red Sea International Film Festival, he gave exciting details on his upcoming movie, Dunki.

Shah Rukh Khan on Dunki:

Shah Rukh wittily told The Deadline, “In English, my film would be called Donkey, it is Donkey. But the way a part of the country pronounces donkey in India, it is ‘dunki’. The Punjabis say it (donkey) like dunki… How much to tell you about the story… It is a film directed by one of the most brilliant filmmakers we have had in our country, Mr Raju Hirani. It is written by a very fantastic writer, Abhijat Joshi. It is a story of people, who want to come back home… when you finally get the calling.”

The Raees actor further said about Dunki, “It is a comic film. His (Rajkumar Hirani) films are always a mix of comedy and a lot of emotions about the country. So, it is a big journey film, and the film goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home to India.”

Meanwhile, this is the first time where SRK will be collaborating with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani who previously helmed the Munna Bhai series, PK and more. Moreover, it is also his first collaboration with actor Taapsee Pannu who will be sharing screen space opposite him in Dunki.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki will be released on December 22, 2023.
