Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan asked to implement changes in Besharam Rang song by CBFC ahead of release

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is collaborating with Deepika Padukon for the much-awaited film Pathaan. The movie has been in news since its inception. The trailer and the posters of the action thriller created a buzz on social media. But the YRF film has also stirred up some controversy with many people taking offence to the song Besharam Rang. Pathaan reached CBFC for certification and the board advised the makers to make some changes to the film.

The song Besharam Rang was released on December 12, and soon it became the talk of the town. But some found the song objectionable over the use of saffron and green costumes. A slew of activists in Indore even staged a protest and set effigies of Deepika and Shah Rukh on fire.

As per TOI report, Chairperson Prasoon Joshi said, “Just to put all queries around the film at rest, Pathaan reached the CBFC examination committee for certification. The film went through the due examination process as per the CBFC guidelines. The committee has guided the makers to implement the advised changes in the film including the songs and submit the revised version prior to theatrical release.”

He added, “The CBFC is always committed to finding the right balance between creative expression and sensibility of the audience and believes that we can always find a solution through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders. Whilst the process is getting duly followed and implemented, I must reiterate that our culture and faith are glorious, intricate and nuanced. And we have to be careful that it does not get defined by trivia which takes the focus away from the real and the true. And like I have said earlier as well, that the trust between creators and audience is most important to protect and the creators should keep working towards it.”

Helmed by Siddharth Anand ‘Pathaan’ also features John Abraham as the antagonist. The movie is scheduled for theatrical release in January 2023, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
