With the 23rd edition of Kolkata International Film Festival, Kolkata gears up to welcome world cinema once more. The inaugural ceremony, like previous others, had attendance of guests like Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kamal Hasaan, Amitabh Bachchan among others. SRK, who has an affectionate bond with the city of joy, doesn’t leave a chance to speak Bengali.
This time around, he delivered portion of his inaugural speech in Bengali and man, how the crowd cheered!
“Ei film festival er bishesh onusthane uposthith thakte pere sammanito bodh korchi. (I feel honoured to be present at this special event). Sanskriti ebong oitihjjyor ei shohor (Kolkata is the city of culture). Shob cheye Mishti Shohor Kolkata (It is the sweetest city),” he said, promising to ditch a written speech and speak on his own the next time.
