Shah Rukh Khan was a part of the opening ceremony of the International Film Festival of India 2017, that is currently going on in Goa. The actor gave a speech out there, and believe us, he is not just a charming actor, but one of the most intelligent personalities in Bollywood. The actor spoke about world cinema and about the film festival at large. But, what grabbed our attention was one of his statements that maybe at the ongoing controversy around ‘Padmavati’. In the statement, he spoke about dissent and discussion which makes us wonder whether he was talking about the film.
SRK stated, “There is a phrase in Sanskrit, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which means bringing the world together like one family. I believe no matter what your language, no matter what country your story comes from and no matter what your ideology is, storytelling and listening should be a familiar experience, which binds us all together, makes relationships stronger even in the face of dissent and discussion… as it usually happens in a family, instead of tearing us apart. With that in mind, the International Film Festival of India’s slogan this year, hopefully, will make that come true.” (Also Read: Padmavati: No expedite certification for Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial)

While talking about the process of filmmaking, the actor stated, “I truly believe that films are made with the collaboration of hundreds of people coming together, working relentlessly for an idea they believe in and they love and they want to share it with the world.”

Talking about the magic of the films, SRK said, “Sometimes we dance along with the film. At other times, we get angry disturbed or agitated. That exactly is the magic of storytelling, a magic which has the power to touch all our senses and in doing so, actually binding us together. The essence of storytelling is incomplete if there is no story listener. And I believe that storytellers and story-listeners are or at least should be like a family.”
Well, we agree with what SRK spoke at the festival and we hope the message of peace reaches one and all.
‘Eat Sleep Bollywood Repeat’ is his life Mantra. Dance is his first love and Rani Mukerji is his eternal crush. He is someone who loves being himself, and as for the ones who don’t agree, his reply? “Talk to my hand!”
