Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s last venture, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra, had left everyone impressed. The grandeur of the film teamed up with spectacular performance by the stars, had made this film achieve stupendous success. It was one of the most successful films of that year and not just commercially, the film was a hit among the audience too. Following this success, now all of us are desperately waiting for his next magnum opus ‘Padmavati’. Featuring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, ‘Padmavati’ is a yet another masterpiece in the making under the guidance of visionary SLB. ‘Bajirao Mastani’ was a visual delight and so seems to be ‘Padmavati’. Shahid, who would be essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji in this film, too holds same thoughts.
In his recent interview, the handsome hunk has revealed how he was left awestruck after watching ‘Bajirao Mastani’. While talking about ‘Padmavati’, he stated, “It’s an intense, romantic and a very looked-forward-to film for various reasons. I think it’s a labour of love of Bhansali. I had gone mad on Twitter after watching his last film ‘Bajirao Mastani’, appreciating everyone, and didn’t know I’d be part of his next film. It’s awesome to be working with someone whose work I have admired and loved, especially in the recent past. It is a great cast and going to be a huge film. I am really excited, but I want to underplay it, so I am trying to do that right now.”
Unfortunately, ‘Padmavati’ got mired in a controversy when Karni Sena protested against the film and destroyed the sets of the film, to the extent of manhandling and getting violent with Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself. To this, Shahid stated, “I hope when people see the film, they realise that the heart of the film and intent of the film is very good. This country and the people who live in it, and specially the area we are talking about in the film, will be glorified and shown beautifully. I play a Rajput king and my character, I feel, will be admired by people.” (Also Read: ‘Bajirao Mastani’ teaser was out mid-July, when do we get a glimpse of ‘Padmavati’?)
