Shahid Kapoor: Earlier, I was just the cute factor, but that is not how I want my life to be defined

Shahid Kapoor is in a very happy place right now, both personally and professionally. Shahid and his wife Mira recently welcomed their second child, Zain Kapoor and on the work front, the actor has quite a few interesting films lined up.

It’s been 15 years since Shahid made his debut in Bollywood with ‘Ishq Vishk’. Upon entering Bollywood the actor instantly earned the tag of ‘Chocolate Boy’, girls would go gaga over his cute looks and his female fan base increased day by day.

In a recent interview with Mid-Day, the actor opened up about how he made a mark for himself in this industry. Talking about how he doesn’t want to be defined just for his cute looks, the ‘Vivah’ actor told the daily, “I became relevant after seven to eight years into my career. Earlier, I was just the cute factor, but that is not how I want my life to be defined. When my children ask me what I do for a living or why I am popular, I don’t want to say, ‘because I look cute or that girls find my hair and cheeks adorable’. I don’t want the journey of my life to be that limited.”

The actor also spoke about how he couldn’t relate to the roles that he was offered in his initial days and also there weren’t enough opportunities to do unconventional roles. He even confessed that he was terrified of the kind of films that were made during that time. However, Shahid also said that he is happy now as things have changed for good. “Things have changed for the better in the last five years. Today, I feel like the saltwater fish that is finally in the sea,” the actor told the daily.

So what if Shahid is no longer the quintessential chocolate boy of Bollywood, we still love him for his nuanced performances. Currently, the actor is gearing up for the release of ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu‘ post that he will start working for the ‘Arjun Reddy’ remake.
