It was in 2007 when Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan delivered an immortal movie Jab We Met. While Shahid essayed the role of a calm and composed guy, Kareena Kapoor played an absolute bubbly girl. Both the characters from the movie are absolutely iconic and live in our hearts rent-free! It was just yesterday when Imtiaz Ali’s Jab We Met completed 16 glorious years and took us back to the days of Aditya Kashyap and Geet. But, did you know it was Shahid who convinced Kareena to do this movie?

Shahid Kapoor convinced Kareena Kapoor to do Jab We Met

Kareena Kapoor got in a recent interaction with Mid Day where she revealed that Shahid Kapoor had convinced her to do the iconic movie. Kareena said, “I was actually without work. I hadn’t worked in a year and a half because I was saying no to big films. I was not getting the kind of film that I wanted. Films weren’t working, so I wanted to take a sabbatical for a year and a half. I think Imtiaz called up Shahid and narrated the film. We didn’t even know Imtiaz because he had just made Socha Na Tha. I hadn’t seen the film, Shahid I think had seen the film.”

Further, Kareena added, “Imtiaz came out of the blue and it so happened. He approached Shahid, and Shahid told me, ‘Hey, listen, you know, he’s going to approach you for this role and it’s great,’ and I was like yeah, I’ll work. I’ll do this movie. I never knew that it would be this iconic movie. I think Imtiaz always looked at me for that, that you’re not understanding what this character is.” Kareena also added that she had signed Yash Raj’s Tashan at the same time and was too excited to work on her abs and looks.

Shahid Kapoor celebrates ‘special occasion’ of Jab We Met

Yesterday, as Jab We Met completed 16 years since its release, Shahid Kapoor chose to surprise his fans by dropping special and memorable moments from the movie. Calling it a ‘special occassion’, Shahid shared a few clips from the movie and took all his fans on a nostalgic tour.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shahid Kapoor recently announced his upcoming movie Deva and shared the official first look as the movie releases next year on 11 October, 2024. On the other hand, Kareena Kapoor recently marked her OTT debut with Jaane Jaan as she starred alongside Jaideep Ahlawat and Vijay Varma.
