The year 2019 will be a memorable one for Shahid Kapoor as ‘Kabir Singh’ became the biggest hit of his career so far. Post that film, Shahid is now gearing up for his next film ‘Jersey’. The sports film directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri is a remake of 2019 Telugu film of the same name. The film’s story revolves around thirty-six years-old cricketer who stopped his cricketing career a decade back and is now aiming to play for the Indian team.
While shooting for the film in Chandigarh, Shahid suffered a major injury after his face got hit by a leather ball. Reportedly, the 38-year-old actor received 13 stitches and has now been advised complete rest by the doctors. Owing to the injury, the 40-day schedule of the film has now gone for a toss.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, while shooting for some portions of the film on the cricket field, Shahid got hit by the ball on his face. A source from the film’s set told the tabloid, “Shahid was playing perfectly fine and rehearsing before the shot when the ball unexpectedly came and hit him on the lower lip and cut open a wide gash where blood started gushing out. He was immediately taken for treatment and a doctor was rushed to see him. To close the wound, stitches were sutured by the doctor.”

Reportedly Mira Rajput has left for Chandigarh to be her hubby’s side as the doctor wants him to rest for next 4-5 days and only then decide the next step. Until then the makers will have to stall the shoot.
‘Jersey’ stars Mrunal Thakur opposite, Shahid. The film is scheduled to hit the silver screens on August 28, 2020.
