Shahid Kapoor is marking his OTT debut with Raj&Dk’s Farzi. The series also features Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi in a pivotal role. Ahead of its release Sasha sat down for an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble and opened up about Farzi, insecurities on two hero concepts and his co-star Vijay Sethupathi.
Shahid Kapoor on Vijay Sethupathi
Speaking about Vijay Sethupathi, Shahid Kapoor said, “I never felt like that about Farzi. Never felt like one more hero is coming or something. I think I was the first person who came on Farzi and then we became like we used to talk about it like friends, co-collaborators and discuss every aspect of the show. I would say what I feel and they would tell me what they are thinking. Then when Vijay sir’s name came up it was kind of similar they were like, ‘Hey we are thinking of approaching him’ and he was like, ‘Ya man he will bring so much to the show’ and that’s pretty much what it was. It never got into those technicalities like one hero or two heroes. It was like Ya he will be amazing and add so much value.”
Shahid Kapoor on two hero concept
He added, “I know, I have heard rumours of heroes having problems with heroines. I am like where are you? what universe are you in? This is one team we are all in it together and if it does well then everyone benefits. There are films that are centred on one character and there are films or shows that will not just be independent about one character. You might be front-facing it but for it to be a complete experience it needs to have some very solid stuff happening in it. I knew the subject and Vijay Sir’s role in it is kind of integral to the show. So is Raashi’s and so is KK sir so is Firoz played by Bhuvan Bam, and Amol Sir these are all very integral characters in the show. The show is made like that when you need to create a world you need to see the whole world and then you can take it forward to the second or third season. If you haven’t developed the supporting characters apart from one protagonist then how do you take it forward you can’t. “
