Shahid Kapoor in talks with director Amit Rai to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his next?

Shahid Kapoor is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood. Over the years, he has proved his versatility by taking up challenging roles and giving terrific performances. The actor is currently busy promoting his upcoming film, Tera Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Amid this, he is reportedly in talks to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Mahara in his next. Reportedly, OMG 2 director Amit Rai will be directing it. On the other hand, it will be produced by Ashwin Varde under his banner Wakaoo Films.

Shahid Kapoor to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

Pinkvilla quoted a source saying, “Shahid and Ashwin have been in talks for a film based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for a while now, and things are slowly falling in place. Back in the day, the duo wasn’t able to find the right director, but following multiple discussions with Amit Rai, Shahid feels that the director is the perfect fit for his epic on the legend of Indian History.”

The film will tell the story of one of the bravest chapters from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the makers are looking to partner with a top studio before proceeding with the pre-production process. The source added, “While Shahid has agreed in principle to spearhead the film, all the paperwork and announcements will happen once a studio comes on board the project. The makers are in talks with several top studios/financers to associate themselves with the film.” Shahid starrer is set to be one of the most expensive films of Indian Cinema.

On the other hand, TBMAUJ also stars Kriti Sanon, Dharmendra, and Dimple Kapadia. It will release on 9^th February. Post that, Shahid also has Rosshan Andrrews’ Deva.
