Saturday night was a starry one as BIG Zee Entertainment Awards 2017 were held with much fanfare. The awards honoured the best of television and film industry, and the who’s who of the tinsel town showed up. From Salman Khan and Shahid Kapoor, to Sushant Singh Rajput and Alia Bhatt, everyone graced the red carpet and even won laurels at the award fest.
Alia Bhatt, the young gun in the current lot in Bollywood, added yet another feather in her cap for the phenomenal performance that she gave in last year’s ‘Udta Punjab’. Shahid Kapoor, her co-star for the same film too won an award for the movie. Tiger Shroff, the action and dance star of the current generation, won not one but two awards and was elated. Sushant Singh Rajput too won the award for the Best Actor in popular category. Zaira Wasim, the young Geeta Phogat of ‘Dangal’ too won an award for her beautiful performance in the movie. Coming to the seniors, actor Anupam Kher too won an award. The actor was overwhelmed and mentioned the same on Twitter wherein he celebrated his completion of 32 years in Indian cinema. We are truly blessed to have an actor of his calibre, amongst us. Amitabh Bachchan won an award for his impeccable act in the movie ‘PINK’, and we could not be prouder, for his act as the advocate Deepak Sehgal indeed opened up many layers of patriarchy that exists in our society.
In fact, the night was quite a special one for the Bachchans in particular. Not just Big B, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too won an award for the Most Entertaining Actor – Female for ‘Sarbjit’, for her heart-rending performance as the grieving and justice-seeking Dalbir Kaur. Son Abhishek Bachchan too won an award for his role in ‘Housefull 3’.
Truly, the night was one eventful one for Bollywood, as they brought so many laurels home, all well-deserved.
