EXCLUSIVE: Sham Kaushal recalls missing son Vicky Kaushal’s birth: He was born when I was busy shooting in Ooty

Action director Sham Kaushal’s life is inspiriting in many ways. He recently joined Bollywood Bubble for the latest episode of XtraOrdinary You and poured his heart out on many topics. The action director recalled his struggling days, wife Veena’s support when he was battling stomach cancer, and a lot more. During the candid conversation, he also had a story to tell about his sons, Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal, who were both born in a chawl, and how he missed Vicky’s birth.

Sham Kaushal reveals Vicky and Sunny were born in a chawl

Sham Kaushal revealed that after getting married to Veena, the couple came to Mumbai where they lived in a chawl. He added, “Aur Vicky, Sunny ussi room mein paida hue hai, chawl joh 10×10 hai. Dono ussi kamre mein paida hue hai. (Vicky and Sham were born in the same room, the size of which is 10×10. Both were born in the same room).” While Vicky was born on 16^th May, 1988, Sunny was born on 28^th September, 1989.

Sham Kaushal recalls son Vicky’s birth

Recalling the old days, Sham ji shared, “Jabhi Vicky 16 May ko paida hua, toh main 8 May ko 1988 ko mein stuntman tha toh mein shooting ke liye Ooty gaya tha. Phone hote nahi the toh meri sass yaha pe thi toh, woh gaon se aaye hue the kyuki Vicky was due. Vicky hua 16 ko paida. (When Vicky was born on 16^th May, I was a stuntman and on 8^th May, 1988 and I went to Ooty for shooting. There were no phones, so my mother-in-law was here, she had come from the village because Vicky was due).”

He continued, “Mujhe kuch information hi nahi mili waha pe. Jis din 16 ki raat ko Vicky paida hua toh, mujhe yaad hai meri night shooting thi. Mein aaya 19 ko wapas. Jab mein ghar pe pocha toh meri Sali thi, maine pucha unse kaha hai toh unhone bataya ki woh hospital mein hai. Mein darr gaya toh unhone bataya ki beta hogaya. (I had no information about Vicky’s birth. The day he was born, I was shooting at night. I came back on the 19^th. When I went to the house my sister-in-law was there, I asked her about my wife and she told me that my wife was in the hospital. I got scared and then she told me about Vicky’s birth).”

He recalled going on his friend’s bike to see Vicky. “It was a precious moment,” said Sham Kaushal.

Both Vicky and Sunny are actors. On the other hand, Vicky is married to actress Katrina Kaif.
