Sharmaji Namkeen: Rishi Kapoor’s last movie co-starring Paresh Rawal to have a digital release

Late Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal starrer Sharmaji Namkeen is set to release on an OTT platform. The makers of the movie had announced the film and released the first look on the 69th birth anniversary of the late actor. They released the poster of the movie featuring Rishi Kapoor’s look in the movie. Rishi Kapoor left for his heavenly abode on April 30, 2020, before he could complete the movie Sharmaji Namkeen. The actor is remembered by fans and close ones, even today. After Kapoor’s demise, Paresh Rawal stepped in and completed the portions of the movie.

Juhi Chawla took to her Instagram to share the release date of Sharmaji Namkeen. The actress shared two posters featuring Rishi Kapoor and spoke about the release. Sharmaji Namkeen is all set to release on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. The movie will premiere on March 31, this year, almost a month before Rishi Kapoor’s death anniversary.

Sharing the posters of the upcoming movie, Chawla wrote, “Aa rahe hai Sharmaji, humare life me lagane tadka #SharmajiNamkeenOnPrime, World Premiere, March 31 on @primevideoinVerified (sic).”

Meanwhile, after the makers announced Rishi Kapoor’s last movie, his wife, Neetu Kapoor had shared the first posters of the movie. His daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had also made a post on her Instagram.

The makers of Sharmaji Namkeen thanked Paresh Rawal after he stepped in to play the role of Sharmaji in the movie. The makers wrote, “A big thank you to Mr Paresh Rawal, who completed the film by agreeing to take the sensitive step of portraying the same character played by Rishi Ji. Produced by Excel Entertainment and MacGuffin Pictures, directed by debutant Hitesh Bhatia, this film is a light hearted, coming-of-age story of a lovable 60 year old man (sic).” Later, Neetu Kapoor had also shared a note, thanking Paresh Rawal.

Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on April 30, 2020. He was last seen in the movie The Body. The actor was 67.
