Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is an eight-part series directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The show, currently streaming on Netflix, is Bhansali’s first series and involves 14 years of planning. After a massive response from audiences worldwide, Bhansali and Netflix announced a second season just a month after its release.
The series – centred on the lives of the tawaifs in the red-light district of Heera Mandi in Lahore during the Indian independence movement against the British Raj, also stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Taha Shah Badussha in pivotal roles.
