John Abraham returns to high-octane action in his latest film, “Vedaa,” where he transitions from hero to mentor. The trailer, released on August 1, reveals a gripping blend of intense action and profound themes, extending beyond mere spectacle.
Sharvari and John Abraham starrer Vedaa out
The trailer opens with John Abraham’s character reciting lines from the Bhagavad Gita, setting a philosophical tone as he engages in fierce hand-to-hand combat. His character states, “Whenever there will be decay in righteousness, he will defend Dharma,” underscoring his role as a guardian of justice. The narrative introduces Abhishek Banerjee’s character, who embodies a villainous enforcer of the caste system. He declares, “I believe in caste system and abide by it,” contrasting sharply with Sharvari Wagh’s Vedaa, who challenges this oppressive belief by questioning, “If caste system is everything then what is the need for law and constitution in this country?”
As the villagers seek a savior, Vedaa turns to Major Abhimanyu Kanwar, portrayed by John Abraham, a former army man from the 11 Gorkha Rifles who was court-martialed for disobedience. Abhimanyu trains Vedaa in martial arts and boxing, equipping her to confront systemic discrimination. Despite his support, the fight for social justice ultimately rests on Vedaa’s shoulders, as the trailer showcases dynamic action sequences featuring both John and Sharvari.
Drawing on Mahabharata metaphors, including John’s character named Abhimanyu—referencing Lord Krishna and Arjuna—the film also features Tamannaah Bhatia as John’s love interest and Mouni Roy in a dance sequence. Produced by Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment, and directed by Nikkhil Advani, “Vedaa” is set to release on August 15.
