Sharvari & Ayushmann Khurrana to romance each other in Sooraj Barjatya’s next? Here’s what we know

Over the years, Sooraj Barjatya has collaborated with some of the most talented actors in Indian cinema. And the newest addition to his list of leading ladies is Sharvari. In December 2024, it was reported that Sooraj Barjatya had signed Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari for his upcoming film, marking a significant new project in the director’s career.

As reported by Pinkvilla, the yet-to-be-titled film is described as a timeless love story centred around family dynamics. And Barjatya has been actively searching for a female lead to star alongside Khurrana. After an extensive audition process, it has been exclusively revealed that Sharvari has been chosen to play the lead role.

According to sources close to the project, Sharvari will take the lead in Barjatya’s next film. “Sooraj Barjatya has a history of working with immensely talented actors, including Madhuri Dixit, Bhagyashree, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Rao, and Karisma Kapoor. Now, Sharvari has the privilege of stepping into the role of a Sooraj Barjatya heroine. She perfectly embodies the vulnerability and innocence that the director seeks for this heartfelt romantic film,” the source explained.

The industry has been optimistic about Sharvari’s potential since last year, and Barjatya’s choice to cast her is seen as a significant endorsement of her talent. “Having a legendary director like Sooraj Barjatya choose Sharvari as the leading lady is a huge mark of approval, highlighting her status as one of the brightest new actors in India,” the source added.

Additionally, the collaboration between Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the screen. “This film will be the first time Ayushmann and Sharvari work together, and both are excited to start this journey with such a renowned filmmaker,” the source noted. Despite four to five actresses competing for the role, Barjatya ultimately decided on Sharvari, a testament to his meticulous approach to casting. With the lead pair now confirmed, the director will focus on assembling a stellar ensemble cast for the film.

Sharvari’s career is on the rise. She has an impressive lineup of projects ahead, including the YRF Spy Universe film titled Alpha. She stars alongside Alia Bhatt, and an Imtiaz Ali-directed period love story featuring Vedang Raina, Diljit Dosanjh, and Naseeruddin Shah.
