December 4, 2017 was a sad day for all of us. Shashi Kapoor, one of the most iconic stars whom we have ever witnessed in Bollywood, embarked on his journey to heaven. After a prolonged illness, Shashi Kapoor breathed his last at Kokilaben Hospital, leaving everyone in tears. From Amitabh Bachchan to Athiya Shetty to Arjun Kapoor, everyone mourned his death. Not just in India, his death was mourned by his fans spread all over the globe, including Pakistan.
As we know, the Kapoor clan initially hailed from Peshawar which is now a part of Pakistan. It was after the India-Pakistan Partition that the Kapoor clan migrated to India. An ancestral haveli built by Raj Kapoor’s grandfather in Qissa Khwani bazaar of Peshawar is one of the historical places there. So with his fans spread across the border too, Shashi Kapoor received a tribute in the form of candlelight vigil.
It was outside this ancestral home that a huge poster of Shashi Kapoor was posted and a candlelight vigil was carried out. ‘Peshawar will never forget you’ is what the message read on the poster. The pictures of the same are on the internet.

May his soul rest in peace.
