On June 23, 2024, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot via a civil ceremony after dating each other for exactly 7 years. While the couple were all hearts ahead, during and after their marriage, a lot was being said about the Sinhas being unhappy with the union. While the bride’s father, actor-politician, Shatrughan Sinha has also commented on the issues, he’s once more opened up about the ‘vicious smear campaign’ that happened against his family. Read on to know all.
Shatrughan Sinha on vicious smear campaign against family
In a recent interview with Times Now, Shatrughan Sinha addresses the ‘vicious smear campaign’ that surrounded his family during Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding. Reacting to the online gossip over Luv Sinha not attending his sister’s wedding, the veteran actor said, “Bahaut bade bade crises dekhe hain humne. Aur yeh toh kuch bhi nahin (We have seen many big crises. This is nothing).”
The actor-politician – while talking about the alleged differences in the family over the marriage, said, “There was absolutely nothing to worry about. We were like any ordinary family with a wedding happening. Just why we became a target of so much attention, you will know better than me.” He continued, “We didn’t ask for it. This is not the first time that such a (interfaith) marriage was happening. Our family was subjected to the most vicious smear campaign.”
The ‘Kalicharan’ actor further stated, “Let me make this clear. I won’t tolerate my family being attacked. Family matters should stay within the family. Like I said, kaun se parivar mein disagreements nahi hote? (Which family does not have disagreements?) We may disagree and argue on certain issues. But at the end of the day, we are one family. And no one can break us.”
Luv Sinha on skipping Sonakshi’s wedding
A couple of days ago, Luv took to his X account and reacted to speculations about differences in the Sinha family over Sonakshi’s wedding. Addressing his absence, he tweeted, “Why I chose not to attend. Running an online campaign against me on a false premise won’t change the fact that for me my family will always come first.”
Luv recently also posted and deleted a note about Zaheer Iqbal’s father, Iqbal Ratansi’s political connection. An excerpt from the now-deleted post reads, “With carefully curated news stories about his family business, nobody tread grey areas like the groom’s father’s proximity to a politician whose ED enquiries had vanished in the ‘washing machine’. Nor was there a whiff of the groom’s father’s stint in Dubai….”
