Sheeba Akashdeep Sabir recalls dating Akshay Kumar; quips, “Too much invested in…”

Actress Sheeba Akashdeep has confirmed that she once dated Bollywood star Akshay Kumar. The two first met while shooting for the 1992 film Mr Bond, and despite their strong bond and common interests, their relationship was short-lived. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Sheeba opened up about her past romance with Akshay and reflected on their breakup.

When asked directly if she had ever dated Akshay Kumar, Sheeba paused before saying, “When you are young and working in close proximity, ho jata hai ishq (you fall in love).” She went on to describe how their relationship developed, sharing that there was “immediate likeness, immediate friends,” and adding, “Both fitness-crazy people… And family friends. My nani and his mom would play cards together.”

However, despite their initial closeness, Sheeba explained that their relationship ended after a short period. She remarked, “We were both kids. I don’t even talk about it. I find it so funny. What’s there to talk about it? I don’t even remember much stuff from that time. It’s been over three decades.” She also stated that after their breakup, she and Akshay chose not to remain friends.

Sheeba elaborated on the emotional nature of young love, saying, “Not when you are very young, very emotional. You are so emotional that you are unable to be normal after that for the longest time. Young love is very passionate and powerful and it’s like an explosion. So when that explosion happens, it has to come down… Friendship doesn’t survive.” She added, “There’s just too much invested in a relationship to be friends later. It just doesn’t happen, unless you are really mature.”

Sheeba and Akshay on professional front

On the work front, Sheeba Akashdeep was recently seen in Jigra and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, both of which starred Alia Bhatt and generated a lot of buzz. Akshay Kumar, meanwhile, was last seen in Sky Force, which was released in January this year. He will soon appear in films like Hera Pheri 3, Housefull 5, and an upcoming project with Ananya Panday and R. Madhavan.
