Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband, Haarsh Limbachiyaa were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection to a drug case. The couple had also accepted consumption of ganja (cannabis), NCB said in a statement. On Saturday, when NCB raided the production office and house of the comedian, they recovered 86.5 gms of ganja. Their arrest came as a shock to fellow comedians and actors.
Shekhar Suman told SpotboyE, “Your talent should be your drug. Just be addicted to hard work and excellence. Sometimes in life it’s difficult to handle fame and money, especially if you are an upstart.”
He added, “It was always my inherent abilities and nothing else. My advice to those who look for external stimulants to perform on stage is: when you do stand-up, stand up on your two feet without any crutches.”
Shekhar feels that Bharti’s arrest in a drug case would not affect the image of comedy providers in India. “Laughter by itself is the biggest antidote and the most effective medicine. It doesn’t get affected by sporadic incidents such as this. Laughter is a pond that doesn’t get affected by one bad fish,” he said.
