Shershaah: Sidharth Malhotra starrer gets a new release date; promo features Capt Vikram Batra’s visuals from Kargil

The makers of Shershaah have released a 1:22 minute video where they gave a sneak-peek of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer. Sidharth is essaying the role inspired by Kargil War hero Captain Vikram Batra. In the video, we see Sidharth dressed in the army uniform as the late Captain Vikram Batra. Also, we get to see some real-life footage from the Kargil war that featured Vikram Batra and journalist, Barkha Dutt.

Shershaah is jointly presented by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Amazon Prime Video India. It will release ahead of Independence Day, on August 12 on Amazon Prime Video.

Sharing the video, Sidharth Malhotra wrote, “Shershaah | Out on August 12th Heroes live on through their stories. We are honoured to bring to you the true story of the Kargil War hero, Captain Vikram Batra (PVC).A film which has had a long journey for me and a real life character I am proud to play. #ShershaahOnPrime comes out on 12th August only on @primevideoin.”

Directed by Vishnu Vardhan, Shershaah also stars Shiv Panditt, Raj Arjun, Pranay Pachauri, Himmanshu Ashok Malhotra, Nikitin Dheer, Ankita Goraya, Anil Charanjeett, Sahil Vaid, Shataf Figar and Pawan Chopra in pivotal roles.

Earlier, Shershaah was scheduled to release on July 2, 2021, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, as the theatres are closed, the makers have opted for the OTT release.

Talking about Captain Vikram Batra, he played a very crucial role during the Kargil War (1999). He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, which is India’s highest war-time gallantry award. The film celebrates his valiant spirit and honors his invaluable sacrifice.
