Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra may face charges of money laundering, foreign exchange violation

Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra was arrested by the Crime Branch on the night of July 19. He has been taken into custody in relation to the alleged creation of pornographic films until July 23. But, later in his bail hearing, Kundra’s custody was extended till July 27. Now, the latest reports say that Raj Kundra will be charged under money laundering, foreign exchange violation acts.

According to a report by ANI, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is most likely to file a case under money laundering and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) acts against Raj Kundra anytime after July 26. The report also said that the Mumbai Police will inform the ED to probe the financial irregularities and the violation of foreign exchange as per the protocol. ED is also said to acquire the FIR from Mumbai Police, file a case and later issue a summon against Kundra under PMLA and FEMA.

The director of Raj Kundra’s company Viaan Industries may also be questioned by the ED in its investigation. Further, Shilpa Shetty might also go through interrogation by the ED as she was the director of Kundra’s firm till last year.

Raj Kundra has been charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Apart from that, the businessman has been faced with charges under the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
