Shilpa Shetty and Paresh Rawal starrer Hungama 2 to have a digital release?

Reports were abuzz earlier that the Shilpa Shetty starrer Hungama 2 was to release in February this year. The Priyadarshan directorial had to face the wrath of the second wave of Covid-19 and the release was pushed ahead. But now the word is that makers of the Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash starrer have decided to go the digital route with Hungama 2.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, a source revealed that Hungama 2 will stream on Disney+Hotstar, “The shoot has been wrapped up and the makers have got a lucrative deal from the streaming platform. Things are locked verbally and the producers, Ratan Jain, Chetan Jain and Ganesh Jain, are on the verge of closing the financials.”

The source further revealed, “It’s going to be a slate of new Hindi films that the platform will announce. Last year, it was Laxmii, Bhuj, Khuda Hafiz, Sadak 2 and Big Bull. For 2021, they have Bhoot Police and Hungama 2 in their kitty, and are in talks with three more films. An announcement will follow once paper work for all the films is done.” That’s not it, Akshaye Khanna, who was part of the 2003 cult, Hungama, will make a guest appearance in the sequel, “It’s a fun character and will bring the house down with laughter,” said the source.

Apart from Hungama 2, the Saif Ali Khan, Yami Gautam, Arjun Kapoor, and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Bhoot Police directed by Pavan Kripalani is also said to take the digital route and have an OTT release.
