Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the producer of ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’, has finally spoken up about the Taapsee Pannu-Sonam Kapoor-Anil Kapoor controversy which has been doing the rounds of social media since the past couple of days. It was being reported that on Anil Kapoor’s insistence, Sonam Kapoor was brought in to the film and thereby Taapsee Pannu was ousted from it. The reports seem to have irked Vidhu Vinod Chopra so much that he decided to release a statement refuting the claims.
“This is to address all the media reports that have been floating around in the media about Taapsee Pannu being the offered ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’. I am the producer of the film and I have never met her in my life. Sonam was the first person cast in the film even before Anil Kapoor. This clarification is a matter of principle. Articles like this undermine the movie making process and are making a mockery out of a film that means a lot to us and the whole lgbtqi community,” read Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s statement.
Till the time Taapsee comes forward, talks about Sonam Kapoor and speaks up on the issue, the matter will not be done with. She has done so in the recent past when she blasted the makers of ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’ for having replaced her without informing. It was being reported that Kartik Aaryan didn’t want to work with Taapsee and therefore, Bhumi Pednekar was brought in as a replacement.
