Shoojit Sircar's ‘Piku’ wins best movie at Indian Film Festival 2015, Melbourne

Bollywood celebrities such as Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Imran Khan, Kangana Ranut inaugurated the Indian Film Festival 2015, in Melbourne. The starry affair ended with a bang. The event had bestowed awards on the best of Indian cinema of recent times. The winner amongst all was the Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Piku’. A Shoojit Sircar directorial that also had the talented Irrfan Khan in pivotal role.

The event was a well attended affair with dignitaries like Australian High Commissioner to India Patrick Suckling, Indian High Commissioner Navdeep Suri, Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt, Consul General Manika Jain, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Padnekar, Simi Grewal, Sonam Kapoor, film director Shojit Sircar, Rajeev Masand, Victorian special minister Gavin Jennings making their presence felt.

Shoojit Sircar bagged the title of the best film with his ‘Piku’. Bhumi Pednekar received an award of best actress for her film ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’. The Bset actor award was collected by Irrfan Khan for ‘Piku’. Best Indie Film award was bestowed on ‘Kaka Muthai’. Rajkumar Hirani was awarded the Best Telestra People’s Choice award for his film ‘PK’. Anil Kapoor too was awarded the special award of excellence in world cinema.
