Sidharth opens up on the clash: Was not expecting ‘PadMan’ to release with ‘Aiyaary’

Sidharth Malhotra is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Aiyaary’. The film is all set for a release in the coming few weeks. But, many would know that ‘Aiyaary’ is not getting a solo release and yet again is set to clash with actor Akshay Kumar’s ‘PadMan’ at the box office. Both these films were originally slated to release on Republic Day. But after filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic period drama ‘Padmaavat’ locked its release date on January 25, the makers of ‘Aiyaary’ first moved its release to February 9 to avoid clashing with both the films.

Following this, actor Akshay Kumar surprised everyone recently by pushing ahead the release date of his film ‘PadMan’ to February 9, so that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmaavat’ gets a solo release. This means that it would be ‘Aiyaary’ vs ‘PadMan’ on February 9. Hence, recently when Sidharth Malhotra was asked about the clash of ‘Aiyaary’ with ‘PadMan’, he stated, “Yes, it irritates, but now it’s too late. What can we do now? Look, we announced the date first. When ‘PadMan’ makers unveiled their release date, we were gracious enough to shift our release date to avoid the clash.” (Also Check: Sidharth Malhotra has a house party on his birthday with close friends. “This situation could have resolved earlier, people could have stuck to their dates, respecting others’ space. I was not expecting the makers of ‘PadMan’ to release their film with us, especially the second time. We thought we will get a solo release,” added the actor.

Further, the actor added, “See, eventually the fate of the film will speak for itself. We are confident about our film, it has its audience. Now that we cannot change anything, we can hope for the best.”

Talking about the film ‘Aiyaary’, it also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah and is directed by Neeraj Pandey.
