Things are just not going right for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ which is slated for a release this Novemnber. After the mob attack in Jaipur and the vandalism incident in Kolhapur, the movie has hit another roadblock. The ongoing strike by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) is creating havoc in the schedule of the movie. Due to the strike, there are very less technicians on the sets of ‘Padmavati’.
A source close to the film told a tabloid, “The crew was clocking in almost 18 hours’ work every day to make sure the film keeps its release date. But, the protests have slowed down the film’s shoot. Now, the team is barely able to shoot for eight to 10 hours a day due to reduced staff strength. The production house has given Bhansali a final word that he cannot overstep the deadline, due to monetary constraints. If the technicians do not get to work soon, ‘Padmavati’ will be adversely affected. One wonders if the film will be able to keep its release date of November 17. Another 15 days of this schedule and Bhansali will miss the release date. Only a miracle can make him release the movie on that day then.” (Also Read: Did Deepika lose a Hollywood film, thanks to ‘Padmavati’?)
Celebs like Saroj Khan, Sham Kaushal and Binod Pradhan have also lent their support to the movie. The strike is primarily for medical insurance and eight-hour shifts. As some members of the FWICE are on an indefinite hunger strike, some met CM of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadanavis on Tuesday to talk about the matter in detail.
