Sona Mohapatra thanked Abhay Deol for being the ‘first actor from industry’ to extend support to her #MeToo battle against music composer and singer Anu Malik. Sona had recently called out Sony TV, (the channel which airs ‘Indian Idol’) for reinstating Malik, as one of the judges on the singing reality show ‘Indian Idol’.

So far only the survivors who had outed Malik in the #MeToo movement were supporting Sona’s fight. Abhay is the first actor to have openly pledged his support to Sona and all the survivors who levelled sexual misconduct charges on Malik.

Thanking Abhay for his support, Sona took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “The first actor from our industry to extend support, @AbhayDeol. Has always been a man with a mind of his own & has made his own road to travel in. Walks his talk! Thank you & big love. Also, thank you for being on the right side of history.”

The singer also shared a screenshot of Abhay’s message that read- “Admire you very much Sona. You have my support”

Since the longest time, Sona is single-handedly fighting against Malik and Sony TV. Singers Neha Bhasin and Shweta Pandit helped her cause by sharing their Me Too stories. Following their accusations, Sony Tv had dropped Malik from their show last year. However this year, they brought him back on the show. And that led to an outrage amongst the survivors and other feminist groups fighting for justice.

Sona even slammed Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar for continuing to work with Anu Malik, despite so many women calling him out. Following the outrage caused by bringing Malik back on the show, there were reports that suggested he might be dropped again. But so far the channel hasn’t made any official announcement regarding the same.
