If you are a cinephile, you will know what a great feeling it is to watch a film in the right company and in the right environment. And the best way to experience a film is to watch it in a theatre. Because no other experience can match up to it.
Certain theatres are famous for the kind of environment they provide and also for the history attached to it. Mumbai’s Chandan cinema is one such iconic single screen which has several memories attached to it. The theatre has been a regular haunt of several B-town actors and filmmakers for the last 45 years. Unfortunately, Chandan cinema is going to be shut down as reportedly, it is going to be replaced by two mini-plexes.
Actress Sonali Bendre’s filmmaker husband Goldie Behl is heartbroken as his childhood favorite theatre is closing down. Goldie has several fond memories attached to that single screen. The filmmaker shared a picture of Chandan cinema and wrote how it was the best place to watch mass entertainers. He also shared that fortunately, he could pass on the experience to his son Ranveer as they recently watched Ranveer Singh starrer ‘Simmba’ in that theatre.

The single screen will be closed down for few days as its owners are planning to renovate it into multiple screens. Reportedly, actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar have been the theatre regulars. And we do agree with Goldie that with Chandan closing down, Mumbai has surely lost a bit of cinematic history.
