Sonam Kapoor is not new to being trolled on social media websites. The actress is grabbing the headlines for her recent statement on Article 370 being scrapped in Kashmir. The ‘Veere Di Wedding’ actress had to issue a statement after she was slammed for her views on the Kashmir situation.
In a recent interview with BBC, when asked about Article 370, Sonam said, “I think it’s very complicated and I don’t understand it as much because there is so much contrary news everywhere so I don’t really know what the truth is. I believe in having peaceful discourse and understanding what’s going on. So when I have the complete information is when I think I can give an opinion.”
When asked about her views on the situation that has arisen in Kashmir post the repeal of Article 370, the actress replied, “It’s heartbreaking to see where the situation has landed right now and I’m very patriotic. So I think for me now it’s better to keep quiet and let this pass because even this too shall pass. Our country was one country, like, 70 years ago and the fact that there is so much divisive politics at play is really heartbreaking.”
Sonam went on to say that it was heartbreaking when her film ‘Neerja’ was banned in Pakistan. Being an artist, she wishes that her work is showcased everywhere.
Soon, after her interview was aired, social media users targetted Sonam for her views. While some questioned her opinions, others asked her to shift to Pakistan.

I love the fact she is saying she isn’t going to speak on it and yet @sonamakapoor is, her upset lies with the fact her films aren’t being shown in Pakistan, yet did Bollywood speak when there put a ban on Pakistani artist being able to go to Bollywood to act in their movies ??

Sonam Kapoor says it’s better not to say anything about the human rights violations in Kashmir because it will pass, but is upset about her film not releasing in Pakistan.
Don’t worry baby, this too, shall pass.

Soon after that, Sonam took to her Twitter handle and asked the trollers to calm down and get a life. “Twisting, misinterpreting and understanding what you want from what someone has to say isn’t a reflection on the person who says it but on you. So self reflect and see who you are and hopefully get a job,” Sonam wrote in her post.
Guys please calm down.. and get a life. Twisting, misinterpreting and understanding what you want from what someone has to say isn’t a reflection on the person who says it but on you. So self reflect and see who you are and hopefully get a job.

Some users also questioned the platform for asking such questions to Bollywood actors who are not even relevant to this issue (Kashmir situation).
