Sonam Kapoor: “I didn’t even know that Anand has changed his name”

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja tied the knot on May 8, after dating for over 5 years. Soon after the wedding, Sonam Kapoor changed her name on her social media handles. The actress was questioned by many regarding her decision of changing her surname.

Sonam Kapoor told Hindustan Times, “I don’t know how to explain it. I’m a little fed up as well because whatever I do is turned into news. I am happy that people are so interested in my life and whatever I wear and so; what I eat and what my name is. But I feel bad for my poor husband. I didn’t even know that he has changed his name. Anand Ahuja also changed his name on his social media account and was lauded by Sonam for it on her Instagram story.

The actress added, “I feel it’s a very cool and progressive thing to do. He is an amazing person and that’s why I’ve married him. He is what he is and I can’t comment on what all he does as he isn’t a public person. So I don’t think it’s fair to discuss him, his choices and speak on his behalf, especially since he is a private person.”

“My husband is the most important thing to me and vice versa, and I think that’s how it works,” she concluded.
