Sonam Kapoor reveals she and Anand Ahuja were planning for a baby in 2020; here’s why it got delayed

Actress Sonam Kapoor and her businessman husband Anand Ahuja welcomed their first child, a baby boy in August. The couple is currently in Mumbai. The Kapoors and the Ahujas are on cloud nine for the new member of their family. Sonam and Anand are yet to reveal the face of their little one. The name is also not yet revealed. In an interview (that was before her delivery), Sonam revealed how Covid-19 pandemic changed her baby plans.

Sonam appeared for Vogue interview, a few weeks before giving birth to her child. In a new video from the interview, the actress said that she was pregnant in December last year.

Sonam and Anand got married in 2018. She said that they wanted to wait for two years and then the pandemic happened. She continued, “Then I heard lots of stories from my friends, who went through a very difficult time during the pandemic, going to hospitals, having their parents with them. In India we are used to a support system of our moms, our in-laws and all of that. You want your mother around. You want your partner around and to come to the hospital, all these things. So, Anand and I decided… We were planning for 2020. Then we were in Delhi at the beginning of the pandemic at his parents’ house and at that point we just decide to wait, because we did not know what Covid-19 was at that point. We did not understand and we thought, let’s just wait”.

She further said that they ‘waited and waited’ and since the pandemic didn’t seem to be going anywhere, in June (2021), on her birthday Sonam told her husband, “I think it is time, I don’t think we can wait anymore.” She did check-ups with a couple of doctors, in both India and in London, and when they said everything is fine, they went ahead.
