While actress Sonam Kapoor is on cloud nine after she was bestowed with the Special Mention Award for her movie ‘Neerja’ at the 64th National Film Awards, it was said that she has also developed a rivalry with Alia Bhatt over the same.
Reports suggested that Alia Bhatt was expecting her name in the category for her performance in ‘Udta Punjab’ and was thus not happy with Sonam’s win. But the actress shunned all the rumours by congratulating Sonam on Twitter. (Also Read: Sonam Kapoor gets personal with Abhay Deol for his take on celebs endorsing fairness brands)
Recently when Sonam was asked about the same, she clarified, “It was really gracious of her (to wish me on Twitter), though I’m sure she laughed at the rumours of a friction between us as much as I did.”
Sonam will be attending the award function in May at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and when asked who will she be taking as her date at the event, the actress quipped, “My dad will accompany me as my date. I remember, for ‘Gandhi My Father’, we had to go a day before for the rehearsals and I had gone on stage with him. Dad got the best actor award for ‘Pukar’ (2000). I remember that we all went as a family to collect that award. If I attend this year, I am obviously taking my family with me. I hope my ‘Neerja’ director Ram (Madhvani) will be also there. All credit goes to him.”
