Taking the boho route
On the cover page, Sonam looks refreshing in a rust colour Dior maxi dress that has a fitted corset-like bodice along with a quirky print and flowy frills at the bottom. The colourful number is beautifully complemented with an earthy, multi-coloured patchwork jacket with fringed hem. Styled by Elle fashion director Malini Banerji, the actress is wearing a heart-shaped Chopard pendant and delicate earrings that accentuate the boho look. And what’s the beauty masterstroke? It’s her messy half up-half down hairdo by stylist Keiichiro Hirano that makes her look every bit of the happy, gorgeous damsel she is. The hairstyle has a striking puff on the crown section and it can be easily recreated with backcombing and a few hairpins.
That infectious smile…
The magazine also released the digital cover for January where the actress is wearing a whimsical and romantic top in powder blue. The Marques Almeida and Pringle of Scotland ruffled blouse is completely on point and complements her lovely dusky skin tone. Her beauty look includes the use of pink lips and pink eye makeup that makes her look fresh, laid-back and easy to emulate. Hairstylist Keiichiro Hirano certainly used his magic wand with that messy hair stacked on the top with many strands left loose all over.
The androgynous spin!
And if you thought you were impressed with her cover looks, then check out this trendy inside picture. Sonam is wearing a strapless, striped Tolcu top with matching flared Tequilla pants from the house of Johanna Ortiz. Kapoor nailed the red-and-white attire and paired it with a shiny Safina vinyl leather coat from Solace London’s Resort 2018 collection. What we like about this messy hairdo that her hair is off the shoulder, making it manageable yet sexy. Sonam completed the look with contrasting blue Fendi shoes and a statement diamond ring from Chopard.
Pretty in pastel
This one’s another out-of-bed hairstyle that we are drooling over. Posing in a cosy, lavender sweater dress, the diva is rocking the untidy hair look like never before! We may not be able to recreate the exact updo but you can just pull out a lot of random strands from a loose side bun and you are good to go. You could use your fingers or a tail-comb to get this super adorable style!
Who’s the boss?
Dressed in a loose pink shirt and midi skirt, Sonam has teamed up the look with an oversized brown jacket, loosely hanging off her shoulders. We don’t particularly like those flower, net heels but her geeky, nerd glasses totally make everything work. The actress’ hairstyle in this look is quite similar to the cover picture and it is all about having that crazy volume in the crown area. You can secure it with pins and use a hairspray to make it stay for long. After the haunting, severely retouched photos of Kareena Kapoor Khan for a magazine, we’re so glad to see Sonam’s comparatively untouched fashion cover. And all her looks, be it the minimal makeup with just pinks and nudes or the zero-effort messy hairstyles, are perfect for times when you’re feeling super lazy.
Sonam Kapoor has taught us a very important lesson as she graces the cover of Elle India’s January 2018 edition titled as the ‘happiness project’. She has reinstated the forgotten beauty hack that it’s perfectly cool to leave the house looking like a wild animal (forgive our penchant for the dramatic), and rock the messy hair like nobody’s business.
