Sonam Kapoor
When you have one of the finest designers in the country to doll you up, it's hard to look bad. The moment Sonam stepped on the ramp, she owned it like a boss with her confidence and gorgeous ivory ensemble. There was this coy, bride-like body language that the actress flaunted and that really worked in her favour. The embroidered lehenga skirt and a Victorian era-inspired blouse featuring a ruffled collar and sheer sleeves were totally aww-worthy. A lattice dupatta and hints of red in her jewellery accentuated her look. And those attention-grabbing red and gold kaleerey hanging from her chooda gave her the Punjabi touch. But we just wish if she had opted for either a statement neckpiece or a pair of earrings as both of them made the look a bit cumbersome.
Sara Ali Khan
Sara was glowing. That peachy complexion, gorgeous hair and innocent vibe took her look a notch higher. She wore a pink embroidered lehenga that she paired with a sheer sequined blouse. Simple hair, a statement ring, and a glossy lip was all she required to stun everyone. That youthful glam vibe is all that we needed to soothe our eyes today.
Disha Patani
The gorgeous actress made us drool over her outfit once again. How can she possibly look hot and pretty at the same time? And ahh, that million-dollar smile! That takes the cake for sure. Disha wore a beige Anarkali with beautiful white floral embroidery that she clubbed with a matching dupatta. Hair done in soft curls and subtle pink lips rounded her look out.
Shweta Bachchan Nanda
The statuesque Ms Bachchan is a pro when it comes to ethnic dressing. Yeah, the look is very bright and colourful but we ain't complaining at all. We loved the yellow embroidered cap sleeve anarkali by the designer duo that she paired with matching dupatta. The dark burgundy lip, minimal jewellery and an oval clutch completed her look.
Mandira Bedi
Well, we think it's high time that Mandira Bedi does something different. We're certainly disappointed. Her typical off-shoulder blouse and leheriya-print skirt in pink and yellow was just about OK. The floral pattern at the neckline looked tacky and we aren't too impressed with the gold clutch either.
Riddhima Kapoor Sahani
We're not quite sure whether Riddhima was aware that she's attending a fashion show. Maybe, she mistakenly dressed up for a lazy summer afternoon brunch or a shopping session. Well, a black dress never hurts the eye, but her look was simply meh. There was nothing that we can talk about. Ms Kapoor should have at least added a bright lip colour or a colourful clutch. Why a black clutch on a black outfit?
Jaya Bachchan
Jaya Bachchan looked graceful, to say the least. Her classy white, embroidered suit, with hints of pink at the bottom, made her look endearing. Simple nude makeup, silver sandals and a silver clutch rounded her look. Again, we would have loved a hint of colour.
Pernia Qureshi
Although Ms Qureshi has not disappointed the fashion police, she has stuck to a safe outfit. She kept it relatively simpler in a black ruffled saree, which she paired with a strapless mermaid blouse. Her look was too subtle and we wonder why she has not added some element of glamour to her otherwise understated ensemble.
Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s Bridal Couture ‘Wedding of the Year’ show held at JW Marriott, New Delhi, was a star-studded affair. While Sonam Kapoor walked the ramp with panache and owned the runway with her shimmery look, Sara Ali Khan, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Disha Patani, who also attended the event, made their presence felt in quite a glamorous way.
The paparazzi sure did go gaga over these starlets but we cannot miss how graceful veterans like Jaya Bachchan and Amrita Singh looked. The pictures of this grand show tell a story. Quite literally. From smiling faces to dazzling ramp walks to the innocence of the shy Sara Ali Khan (she’s still her mama’s li’l girl), here’s decoding uptown girl Sonam’s avatar along with other celebs, some who made us go wow and some who made us cringe.
