Singer Sonu Nigam made some candid revelation during an interview that has surprised netizens. Did you know that Sonu was offered to sing the Subhanallah song from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani? But due to some reason, he was then replaced by singer Sreerama Chandra who was chosen over him. After years, Sonu and music director Pritam are coming together for Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. Speaking about working with Pritam after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani snub, he revealed that he came on board because of Aamir.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Sonu spoke about his call with Pritam a few months ago, asking him to come onboard for Aamir Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. He said, “Pritam, very nicely he said, ‘Sonu you are very special to me. I have a very special connection with you because you sang in my debut. You’re a part of my debut. I’ve much respect for you. I don’t want, and it happens nowadays, that a song is sung by multiple people and then one is chosen from there’. Now, this is the trend but I don’t want to be a part of that. Pritam also told me the same thing, ‘This is why I’m asking you to be a part of a song that will not be sung by any other singer’. This was Aamir’s decision that ‘Sonu Nigam will sing this song’. So since the producer and star has said, so now it won’t be that ‘Let us make Sonu also sing the song and then compare’.”
Earlier, Sonu had clarified that he would not sing for films where more singers are being also tried for the same song. “I never have had an issue with any singer singing songs,” he said.

“I never asked for the song, right? Did I say ‘Please, give me the song?’ Have I asked that ‘Please, call me or try me?’ No, because if people, who are my well-wishers, get to know that ‘Sonu Nigam is a beggar. He acts like a King in front of everyone but actually, he is a beggar. He begs [for songs] from people that – please give me a song in this film etc.’ So, how would you feel?” the Satrangi Re singer added.
