Sonu Nigam is a singer par excellence and is a gem of a human being we know. However, he has had his share of controversies too. This time he has landed himself in soup because of some remarks he made about the morning Azaan.
Woken up early in the morning by the sound of Azaan, Sonu took to Twitter to express his displeasure over the ‘forced religiousness’ in our country. In a series of tweets, Sonu posted, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India.” [sic] (Also Read: Sonu Nigam’s video ‘Kaagaz’ is thought-provoking)
Considering the practice as ‘gundagardi’ he further wrote, “And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?” [sic]; followed by “I don’t believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don’t follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True?” [sic]
Soon after, Sonu Nigam made it to the social media trends. While many condemned the singer for his rant, some also stood in support of him.
He concluded his rant with a tweet, “Gundagardi hai bus…”
We wonder what made Sonu this furious.
