Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, who has worked with Salman Khan in Maine Pyar Kiya among other movies opened up about how no actor wanted to work with his production work. He revealed that when he wrote Maine Pyar Kiya, his father was unsure of his choice to become a director. Further explaining why Barjatya said it was because he was a shy and underconfident youngster. Sooraj Barjatya also explained how Salman Khan was cast five months after his initial screen test. He shared why.
Opening up about how no actor wanted to work with his production house, speaking with Humans of Bombay, the Uunchai director said, “But the journey was daunting-at Rajshri, our production house, our last few films were flops, and we were suffering financially. No actor wanted to work with us.”

Barjatya added, “And then one day, I met a young man who we’d rejected after his first screen test. But there was something about him. So, 5 months later, we got him on board. That man was Salman Khan. The script was ready, and so was the cast, but there was no money. But we knew the film would work. So, Dad borrowed. The shoot began, and we know what happened then-it became an iconic film!”
Meanwhile, it was during an event recently, Salman Khan announced that he would return as Prem. The actor hinted at the possibilities of his collaboration with Barjatya. The Uunchai director also hinted at his collaboration with Salman during the premiere of his recently released movie.
On the work front, Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan have worked together on films like Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), Hum Saath-Saath Hain (1999), and Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo (2015).
Work-wise, Salman has the movie Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in his kitty. In the pipeline, he even has Tiger 3 with Katrina Kaif and a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan.
Sooraj Barjatya directed the recently released movie Uunchai. The film features Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, and Sarika.
