Soorarai Pottru Hindi remake to release directly on OTT? Producers of Akshay Kumar starrer RESPOND

Actor Akshay Kumar has plethora of movies in his kitty. The Hindi remake of Soorari Pottru is one of them. The Tamil film starred Suriya in the lead role. Akshay is playing Suriya’s role in the Hindi remake. On Sunday, August 28, an online portal in its report claimed that Akshay’s film will release directly on a streaming platform on the occasion of Republic Day next year, i.e. on January 26, 2023. The report also stated that it will release in a series format; each episode releasing in four-five weeks.

The production house Abundantia Entertainment has rubbished the report via a tweet and clarified that the film is ‘lining up for a big screen release’.

Sharing the news report, it tweeted, “Hello @BOWorldwide, unfortunately your #Exclusive is #False. There is NO truth to this at all. Our film is under production and lining up for a big screen release. Request you to verify what you put out.”

Recently, at the 68th National Film Awards, Soorarai Pottru won five awards. These included awards for Best Actor (which Suriya shared with Ajay Devgn for Tanhaji), Best Actress for Aparna Balamurali, Best Feature Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Background Score.

Suyriya is playing a special role in the Hindi remake and he had confirmed it. The Hindi remake also features Radhika Madan as the female lead. The movie also marks Suriya’s first film as a producer in Bollywood. Soorarai Pottru director, Sudha Kongara is helming the Hindi remake as well.

The film is inspired by events from the life of Deccan founder GR Gopinath.
