Akshay Kumar’s Sooryvanshi was supposed to release on March 24, 2020, and just a few days before the lockdown caused due to the Covid-19 pandemic was announced. The makers took the correct decision by postponing the release, and soon afterwards, the government also announced that all theatres will be shut indefinitely. Now that theatres have been given the permission to entertain 100 per cent capacity, the makers of the Rohit Shetty directorial have decided to go ahead and release the movie in theatres on April 2.
Some final rounds of discussions are still going on between the producers of the film and the distributors, and trade is abuzz with rumours that a final decision will come by next week. Only after which an official announcement would come out. The makers of the project are said to make an official announcement about the release date next week. Soon afterwards, the promotions of the movie will begin, and it wouldn’t be long before you get to see Sooryavanshi stars and posters all over the town.
It’s a piece of great news for all fans of the Rohit Shetty cop-universe, who have been waiting eagerly for the release of the movie since over a year. Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and many others. It should be a treat to watch the film on the big screens. After all, this will probably be the first film starring a superstar to release in theatres after the pandemic lockdown was lifted from the movie theatres.
The film will be the 4th film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe after Singham, Singham Returns and Simmba. The announcement of Sooryavanshi was made in the closing credits of Simmba, and since then fans have been wanting to see Akshay Kumar in the cop uniform kicking some ass. Finally, their prayers have been answered and the film will hit theatres all over on April 2.
